It’s on the western side of the building on the ground floor, and opens daily from 10am to midnight from Sunday to Wednesday and from 10am to 2am from Thursday to Saturday. The food hall, with canteen-style communal tables, opened in May of 2014 and has become a major food destination. This is where many of Lisbon's chefs buy the fresh fish served at their restaurants. The traditional stalls selling fresh produce are found on the ground floor and are open from 6am to 2pm. In 2014 it was taken over by Time Out Lisboa magazine, whose management added stalls offering food and traditional local products.

Mercado da Ribeira (once also known as Mercado 24 de Julho) is Lisbon's main food market since 1892, when it opened with an iron interior and a large oriental dome.
